In 2012, Joel Stafford (Team Principal) from Melbourne, Australia came together to form a motorsport team. The Simford 1800 Weldit team as it was know at the time later rebranded Simford Group Motorsport team, with a mission to compete in some of the toughest and most challenging desert events across the country.
Initially, the team was supported by the motorcycle manufacturer Husaberg. With their backing, Simford Group Motorsport set out to make a name for themselves in the world of offroad racing.
Their first few events were tough, whilst still recruiting some of the best up and coming riders in the offroad motorcycling scene. They grew quickly and constantly improved their skills and techniques. Soon enough, they began to rack up impressive finishes, and their reputation grew.
As their success continued to grow, so did their ambitions. They set their sights on the most challenging desert races in the country, including Finke, Hattah, and the Australian Off Road Championships.
The team trained hard, putting in countless hours of work to fine-tune their motorcycles and perfect their riding skills. And it paid off.
At the 2015 Finke race, Simford Group Motorsport took home first place in their class, stunning the competition and cementing their status as a force to be reckoned with.
Over the years, the team continued to compete in and dominate some of the most challenging offroad events in Australia and started their focus on Junior presence and development. And they did it all with the support of their dedicated sponsors, including Husqvarna, helping the team continue to achieve their goals.
In 2018, Simford Group Motorsport made a strategic decision to expand their focus to include junior riders. They brought on two new leaders to help steer the team in this new direction: Paul Roche and Brad Harris.
Roche and Harris brought a wealth of experience and expertise to the team, having worked with junior riders in the past. Their goal was to help the next generation of offroad racers develop the skills and mindset needed to succeed in this challenging sport.
Under their leadership, Simford Group Motorsport began to recruit and train young riders, carefully selecting those with the potential to excel. The team provided these riders with top-of-the-line equipment and dedicated coaching, helping them to develop their skills and build their confidence.
In their first year of focusing on juniors, Simford Group Motorsport saw incredible success. Their young riders achieved impressive finishes in races across the country, proving that the team's investment in their future was paying off.
Roche and Harris continued to lead the team in the years that followed, building a strong culture of excellence and determination. They instilled in their riders the importance of hard work, discipline, and resilience, all qualities that are essential to success in offroad motorcycle racing.
Today, Simford Group Motorsport is known not only for their impressive accomplishments on the track but also for their dedication to developing the next generation of offroad racers. They continue to inspire and support young riders, helping them to achieve their dreams and reach their full potential.
Today, Simford Group Motorsport is recognized as one of the top offroad motorcycle racing teams in Australia. They continue to inspire and impress with their dedication, skill, and determination to succeed in the face of adversity.
